I couldn’t resist leaning closer. “Guess we’re starting strong.” He blinked slowly, like he was recalibrating his entire career.
We read the scene. He was good—intense but controlled, like he understood restraint better than touch.
Our voices started to find rhythm, overlapping in places that made the crew shift in their seats.
Then props raised a hand. “Director, about that bedside lotion…”
“Something real,” she said. “Maybe anti-inflammatory cream. Details matter.”
Silence, then muffled laughter.
Tian Lei leaned toward me, whispering, “Why would they need that?”
I almost choked. “For soreness.”

Chi Cheng wanted to say it wasn’t like that at all. That every second, he wanted to be here with Wu Suo Wei instead of in that cold house—without love, without warmth. But he didn’t. Of course he didn’t. Communication had never been his strength.
Instead, he broke the tension with a single breath of a word.
“Da Bao… I don’t want to fight,” Chi Cheng said, his voice rough. “I missed you…”

Summary
Chi Cheng and Wu Suo Wei were extremely close as children. Suo Wei was always the quiet and fragile one, while Chi Cheng acted as his protector. At the time, it seemed like their bond would never change.
However, Chi Cheng began to change unexpectedly. He slowly distanced himself without explanation, and Suo Wei never questioned it. Even though they remained neighbors and maintained familiarity, they were no longer close. Suo Wei came to terms with the fact that Chi Cheng was no longer the protective figure he once was.
But then Chi Cheng suddenly reentered Suo Wei’s life—not gradually, but forcefully. He disrupted Suo Wei’s routines, invaded his space, and became an unavoidable presence.
The reality was that Chi Cheng had never truly let go. He had simply been waiting. Now that he was back in Suo Wei’s life, he had no intention of leaving—ever.
