"C'mon, Atsushi-kun, don't be so mean." The dead man frowned, making him close his eyes and put his hands onto his face. "Talk to me!" He whined, only he didn't because the real Dazai was underground, dead, gone, bloodless, in a coffin, with his gravestone in place, with the blue orchids that he put on the man's burial site the last Friday, still blooming.
"Atsushi." He ignored the sound and closed his eyes even more tightly, shaking.
"Atsushi!" Kunikida yelled, snapping him out of his daze, and making him blink his tired, sleepless eyes.
"Kid, you're out of it." The blond mumbled in concern, making him open his lips to interject, to deny the baseless accusation.
"Kid. Go home. You need rest." Kunikida sternly bit out, the hand on Atsushi's shoulder tightening.
No. He couldn't go home. Going home meant that he'd be alone with himself. With the hallucination.
He doesn't want to.
"I can work." He muttered, seeing his superior in a kind of blurry way that made him realize that his vision was cloudy due to the lack of sleep or maybe even lack of proper meals.
"You can barely function. Go home."
