She smiled, “Among other things. If you do take leave, let Coates know the shape of things. We’ll be here when you get back, whatever you choose.”

Tiner took a slow sip of coffee, brows raised.
“Sir.” Gunny gritted, “Are you sure you’re not forgetting something, sir.”
The junior officer smiled sunnily, said, “I’m sure.” And breezed out of the room.
