“Wait!” the thing cried in that familiar voice. “Lute, fucking— Wait! It’s me!”
Lute froze, the tip of her spear pressing lightly against the skin of the sinner’s throat.
It stared up at her with wide, horrified, hopeful yellow eyes. Now that she actually looked, she couldn’t deny that she would have known them in any lifetime. The shape of his face was the same. The hair was the same. The voice was the same. But—
The creature before her had one more eye than it should have. It had horns growing out of its head — the same shape that the ones on his helmet had been, but real in a way that no angel’s were. Knives grew from the tips of its fingers, impossible to be covered even by the gloves it wore.
The thing in front of her was undoubtedly a demon.
Adam had been an angel.
Adam was dead.

“What the fuck did you do?” Adam asks, staggering a step back.
Lute’s eyes dim. They drop to the floor, and when she looks back up at him, it is with such shame and apology that he almost wants to look away. He wants to, but he can’t. All that he can do is stare in horror at the thing that can’t be happening, the implications that he can’t be seeing.
Shutting the door behind her, Lute says, “Sera has well and truly lost her mind. They aren’t willing to let you return to Heaven. I’m sorry, Sir.”
“Never fucking mind about that,” Adam hisses. “Lute, where the hell is your halo?”

Summary
Lucifer shouldn’t go. He really shouldn’t. But when Vox, the fallen media Overlord, messages him for a private meeting, he shows up anyway. Vox has lost his cameras, his audiences, and all of his control over Pentagram City. He wants it back.
Lucifer expects manipulation and games, instead he finds a man struggling to cope with the consequences of his own ambition.
Lucifer won’t fix Vox’s problems and refuses to clean up the chaos, but he will make sure that Vox understands the difference between a life built on others and one that endures.
It isn't redemption, but finding Vox's humanity is close enough.

Lute attends the meeting of Hell's powerful ruling classes- the Sins, nobility, and Overlords- with the express intent of protecting Charlie and Vaggie. Well- really, she's there to protect Vaggie from the Overlords and to protect the Overlords from Charlie, because Vaggie thinks the Overlords will antagonize Charlie. Vaggie ends up being right and Hell is not prepared for what will happen next.

But he was Calamity's child to the bone. Whether he had no Ancient blood or he had it in spades, it didn't matter. He'd committed too many sins to ever find a place in the Promised Land.
“I don't desire anything from you. Except for you to stop breaking my things and dripping all over my campsite.” He was disrupting her neatness, blurring her boundaries, and making her insecure.
