Ambrosius stood before the limp body for only a moment before collapsing to his knees, his whole world crumbling around him. He was gone -the evidence in front of him proved that- his love, his life, his everything was gone and it was all his fault wasn’t it?
The instincts that were engraved into him from years and years of training had disarmed a weapon but He had chopped off his lovers’ arm before even thinking, and in that moment his life had looked at him with such shocked, sad betrayed eyes as the ground around him fell and with it so did he and any chance of explanation gone with it. And now? That same man was laid in front of him as if the universe were mocking him for his actions.
His everything was gone. And it was all. His. Fault.

Maybe one where he made it to the outside. Maybe there he would have somehow found medical supplies. Maybe he would somehow have proven his innocence. And maybe, just maybe, that universe wouldn’t leave him alone without his lover, maybe they grew old together after the truth that seemed so distant to him now was revealed to the rest of the kingdom.
But this universe isn’t as kind.
OR// This fic idea came to me while reading a Nimona one-shot that was Ballister tending to his wounds after the Knighting ceremony and his 'escape' and going to the tower and I thought 'but what if he didn't make it that far? what if the bleeding was too much and what if he hit his head when he fell down the hole?' and thus this fic was born!

Or, Dick's world has fallen apart again the weight of his secret growing with the years, the only question that remains is will it crush him or will it help him come home?

Amazing!!!!!
I was a little nervous to read bc of there only being a few tags, but the summary and the tags that are there (as well as the first few chapters) explain the fic really well and it was a brilliant read and I def cried (both happy and sad tears) a couple times!
