The Defenders of the Wing were just trying to be nice. A tonic was made for each dragon, given to improve all draconic qualities like scales, talons, fire, and flight speed. The only warning was to not get it on their skin.
Of course, Toothless immediately sneezes his dose right back in Hiccup’s face.
So why shouldn’t the tonic get on their skin? It makes those qualities in people. Luckily, the tonic has an antidote, and it’s just gonna require a bottle of semen.
Chop chop Astrid. You don't want him to stay dragon hybrid forever, do you?
