Looking back, it's rather stupid, she can even admit that. So she has no right to be shocked when Josie moves on.
And she knows this. And if she wants Josie to be like her, to form her own thoughts and desires, then where's the faults in helping her ex-girlfriend go after what she wants? Or, who she wants?
And it appears, Josie wants Hope Mikaelson.
OR, Penelope and Josie are exes, Hope likes Josie, Josie likes Hope, Josie hates Penelope, Penelope and Hope don't know each other, and Penelope is utterly in love with Josie.

Hope sighed as she put her cup down, before turning back to Lizzie. The look in her eyes, the frown on her gorgeous lips. Lizzie knew what was coming, and she doesn’t think she can take it. The younger of the two abruptly stood up from the couch, leaving the other one quite startled. “Don’t!” She demanded, tears welling up in her eyes.
Hope looked up at her confused, not understanding what brought this sudden change of attitude on. “I haven’t even said anything yet?” Hope reminded her.
Lizzie shook her head, thinking she knew exactly what Hope was going to say. “I don’t need your pity!” She turned back around to face the girl she was helplessly in love with. What had come over her she wasn’t sure, she didn’t even listen to what Hope had to say. She wouldn’t take that risk, the risk that she might not love her back. It was to scary.

Lizzie hadn't planned on telling Hope she loved her over text. She actually hadn't plan on telling her at all but, here they were.

“Yeah, uh. Do you have any jobs or anything I can do?” He asked her. Veronica looked at him strangely, and he didn’t blame her. What kind of kid, what kind of person in general, requests a job, most people try to get out of them. Hell, MG can’t even count the amount of times he’s tried to get out of chores his parents have given him. But he was really bored, like, really bored, and he would do anything right now so even if she told him to clean the fucking toilet bowl, he would probably do it with a smile on his face.
Once Veronica’s shock wore of, she told her son, “well, the dishes from lunch are still in the sink, so if you could do those it would be a real help.” He unconsciously smiled as he pumped his fist in the air, making his mom look at him like he has just used taken the lord’s name in vane (he’s family was very religious) but that was to be expected by her son’s strange behaviour.
