Summary
Damian was at a loss for words as his magazine fell into his lap. His hands remained floating in the air, but his eyes darted up to his father’s.
His father's eyes were filled with mischief.
Bruce rests an ankle on one knee, snatches Damian’s magazine off his lap, and then dangles it up in the air for examination.
“So,” he begins, turning the magazine in the air, “where are we off to?”
Damian sinks in his chair.
Damian didn’t know what he was expecting, but it certainly didn’t involve getting caught.

Summary
“Do I have to repeat myself, Jonathan?” Damian snaps and oh wow, he really must be embarrassed if he’s using Jon’s full name. “If you really are so desperate and lonely as to not have any other choices, I suppose I am obligated to fill the role as your partner.”
Partner. Damian’s used the phrase for nearly a decade and yet this is the first time to hear the word with a deeper connotation, an added layer. Jon likes the sound of it already.
“First off, I have plenty of friends! Secondly,” he pauses for dramatic effect because he knows it’ll drive Damian crazy. “Are you fake-asking me out right now?”
“You’re ridiculous,” Damian huffs and hangs up. Jon’s left staring at his phone, a dopey grin on his face because that sure as hell wasn’t a “no” which is as good as a “yes” in Damianese.
