    Summary

Rogue SecUnit maintenance is untread territory. It is much easier to keep a SecUnit functional when it has access to the infrastructure it was built to use. Without access, you must provide your own infrastructure to it.

“You didn't have to do that. I didn't ask for an update,” it grouses.

You're uncertain what it will take for your SecUnit to realize its need for this infrastructure.

In which ART is just trying to take care of Murderbot, and Murderbot is just trying not to overreact (read: panic, have a flashback, dissociate). And they get mad at each other instead of talking about it. That’s the whole fic.

I'm shooting myself in the head, this is the only fic with the miscommunication trope that I accept. That's high praise.

    Summary

Remus can’t decide what expression Roman is wearing under that stupid, silly mask, but he thinks he likes it anyway. Something like horror, something like despair, something like fear and self loathing and nausea that matches the face that’s been haunting him since four years ago in a gas station mirror after he threw himself in front of an eighteen wheeler upon realizing that Roman never cared about him at all.

    “Remus,” Roman croaks out.

“I have a power,” Remus says. “I have always had a power. I ruined my own life by saving yours when we were eight years old, but that’s okay. I’m going to fucking fix it right now!”

He raises the gun barrel towards Roman again, steady and simple and confident, right at that bleeding heart of his that for some reason never bled for Remus.

THATS SO FUCKED UP. I LOVE IT.
    *spoilers below*
I really like the characterisation here, how we weren't directly shown Janus's doubts until almost the last (for now) chapters, but not because they weren't there, but because Remus didn't notice them. We saw it, Remus didn't and it's so BEAUTIFUL. I also like how when I read Janus's name I'm like "what the hell is that? he didn't tell Remus" BUT AFTER THAT. REMUS IS LIKE "oh. fuck yes I knew. hmm" KILL ME. SO GOOD.

    Summary

"Hey, are you alive?" The gun lowered slightly, and Remus let his arms fall to his sides.

He really, really wanted to bite him. Nearly every inch of him was covered in makeshift armor, or at least cloth, a pair of eyes the only thing visible between his beanie, facemask, and hood. Interestingly, one of them was brown, and the other was green.

If he wasn't so hungry, if he was still alive, Remus would've found them pretty. Instead, he found them appetizing.

"Clearly not." He muttered, raising his gun again.

Remus thought being a zombie would be a lot cooler than it actually was. Lucky him, he retained his thoughts despite being dead, and he happened upon a survivor named Janus, who... Didn't shoot him? For some reason?

    Bookmarker's Notes

I actually really like both the idea and the fic itself. Although some of the conflicts feel a bit... stretched to say the least, it's still an interesting read. The character development is VERY good, and I like watching Remus (a character whose whole point is to say whatever's on his mind) being put in a position where he can't speak.

Janus, as a character, is a bit weaker, but that's purely because I didn't get enough of him. We as the reader don't see his actions as such, Remus is just describing what happened to them (Janus eating "problems" for example we weren't shown this, we read how Remus noticed it post factum. I hope I make sense)

This does not affect the enjoyment of reading at all tho. A VERY GOOD FIC THAT I PRAY WILL BE CONTINUED. PLEASE.
