    Summary

    Shanks decided that after Uta, he also couldn't lose the boy who was basically his son and goes back for him. He doesn't expect that Luffy has brothers, but when Luffy joins him at the age of ten, Shanks makes sure that Luffy grows up strong. Luffy is ecstatic however and a few months after he, Ace, and Sabo have become brothers, he leaves with Shanks to become a pirate apprentice. But despite the crew underestimating him, several times in fact, he still wants his own crew and remembers the promise he and his brothers made to leave Foosha at the age of 17. Shanks agrees and takes him back, only for Luffy to face down an angry (though proud) Garp before finally setting sail when he turns 17.
