Light crosses his arms, visibly fighting down something sarcastic. “If you can give me headphones, you can give me a blindfold, too.”
“Why?” L widens his eyes at him. “All you have to do is not watch.”

For all the things Light could've wanted for his birthday, an ultrarealistic android came nowhere near the first option. In fact, the way his gift was presented to him, like an unprecedented model test, made it all feel somewhat of a chore.
The android has strange, watchful eyes. Maybe that's the reason Light could not help but keep him. He would make him to be helpful. There was a clear purpose to his consumption. And even if things took a strange turn, that's the beauty of it. Light has absolute control and can simply turn L off whenever he feels like it. Most certainly.
