In dreams, she sees him walking the halls of the palace at her side, and poring over a scroll in a room at Pirate's Swoop decorated exactly to his tastes, and once, most bitterly, sitting by a sunny window with a copper-haired baby cradled safely in his arms.

"This is good," he said with approval, inspecting a finished arrow. "If you give up this mad knighthood thing, you'll do well as a fletcher."
Kel grinned at his joke. "Some of these are for you, sir," she pointed out.

Just like every other teenage girl of every other species, she never consciously acted out because of an unspoken need for attention or affection, Hera simply rebelled because she could. The sole difference between every other teenage girl in the galaxy and Hera Syndulla though, was that Hera’s means of rebellion was seeking to start a rebellion.
