Hua Cheng took a step towards the bed and leaned closer, his inky eyes studying him closely. After a moment he sighed and flopped on the bed next to him, a hand lazily reaching up to Xie Lian's head and scratching it gently.
"Who am I kidding, we both know I'm going to keep you. I don't even get why...there's just something about you that won't let me throw you out the door."
Unable to say anything Xie Lian tilted his head slightly and watched as the corner of the ghost's thin lips arched a little. It was such an endearing look.

After White No-Face's defeat at the hands of the Heavenly Emperor, Xie Lian makes a deal with Jun Wu to adjust his shackle to allow him to use spiritual energy only for the sake of others, and never himself.
Banished and homeless, Xie Lian protects the tiny scrap of soul and dedicates everything he has to pouring energy into helping repair it. The opening of Mount Tonglu seems to be the perfect place to harvest spiritual energy, so Xie Lian decides to enter the barrier and battle thousands of ghosts if it will help restore Wu Ming’s soul.

A sob tore itself from San Lang’s throat when the realization finally stuck with him. Then another when he felt the already familiar pull of ascension. In a burst of panic, San Lang used spiritual energy to turn the body snuggled in his arms into ashes and then willed them to take a form of a diamond ring. The ashes mended themselves to his will very willingly then almost made his palm burn when he gripped them too tight. That was the last thing he did before he once again appeared in the Heavenly Capital.
He stayed, this time. Somebody had to take care of all the trash up here.

What if he just left with his friends, not even stopping to say goodbye? The god couldn’t handle it. He would never get to see Xie Lian’s smile, which was brighter than a thousand suns. Hear his laugh, which was like the most pleasant melody. He could no longer watch as his hazel eyes lit up with excitement as Hua Cheng showed him a new part of the manor, or even a new robe. Just him, every part of him he would miss, because he loved him so.
Loved him so.
Loved him.Or: Hua Cheng is the god of the night, and Xie Lian is still the prince of Xianle (though recently disgraced). Follow as they fall in love, and have to deal with Jun Wu's creepy ass.
