Kaz was out of town when the Komedie Brute decided to have audacity in spades.
Later, Wylan thought this was probably best. Giving the actors a grace period of about a week without having to worry about the presence of Kaz was probably a good thing.

Summary
The Darkling uses merzost once again, though this time he just wants to make something good, something for him. He succeeds. Baghra finds the result of his experiments and decides that he can never know that he has created a son. So, she sends the boy away, and he grows up far away from any thoughts of Grisha, the Little Palace, or even Ravka itself.
Until sixteen years later, when one Kaz Brekker (the adopted son of the Rietvelds, though no one knew that particular detail about him) takes on a job to kidnap the Sun Summoner, and he and his crew find themselves in Ravka. Things start to get a little more complicated from there.
