Now, the last thing Javert expected to be doing was taking a teenage girl home with him. She had been seen at the scene of the crime and probably had something to do with it. And therefore she was to be arrested.
Or was she? Because Javert was currently walking home. With a teenage girl. Javert didn’t know what came over him. Perhaps he is ill! Surely that is a reasonable explanation for taking a teenage girl home with him.
Basically: Javert adopts Éponine Thénardier and stuff happens from there

This is a short interpretation of things left unsaid in Genesis 37-50, which inspired the 2000s film Joseph: King of Dreams. Nothing more or less than that.
