Summary
Xaden Riorson thought he had figured out how to survive in this place. Now in his final year at Basgiath War College, he’s risen to the rank of Wingleader. He is focused on one thing: getting every kid of the rebellion bonded to a dragon. Then the real work can begin.
But he hadn’t counted on Violet Sorrengail, the General’s daughter, entering the Rider’s Quadrant. She’s not supposed to be here and she’s about to throw every plan he has made into chaos. Can he trust her? And more importantly, can he trust himself?
This follows the dialogue and events of Rebecca Yarros’s Fourth Wing, retold from Xaden’s perspective. This was written prior to the release of Iron Flame, so all theories and speculation are my own and unconfirmed. It's my best guess at exploring how Xaden might have felt throughout the story and features new scenes with Liam, Garrick, Imogen, Sgaeyl and Tairn. Major plot spoilers from the very first chapter.

Summary
Wei Wuxian knows a relationship between them would be impossible, but he can't help but be drawn to Lan Wangji. They would be formidable together as a couple, if only he wasn't a vampire, and if the great Hanguang Jun wasn't a paladin of Gusu Lan that hunted and killed supernatural beings.
"You must return to your mansion immediately," the paladin stated, ignoring his teasing tone.
Wei Ying slid his feet off the table ever so slowly and then he leaned forward and rested his chin on his palm. "And if I don't?" he asked cheekily.
"Then I'll have to kill you."
"Oh," Wei Wuxian said in mock surprise, "Well then can I at least know the name of the great paladin that will be taking my life?"
The man narrowed his eyes at him, but then he said, "Lan Wangji."
"Ahh, so they sent the great Hanguang Jun to put me in my place," he said. His eyes roamed over the length of the tall paladin, admiring the girth of his chest and the sturdiness with how he stood. "Would it help if I were to plead my case?" His eyes met the paladin's and he held his gaze. "If I were to beg for mercy?"
He felt a spark of something in his chest he hadn't felt in centuries when Lan Wangji's pupils dilated in surprise.
