Satoru takes another step forwards, arms spreading wide in excitement, “Yūji-kun! You’re here!”
“Oh my God,” the child repeats breathlessly, sounding far older than any child his age should sound, unable to tear his eyes away from Satoru. The boy shakes faintly, shock maybe, words a shaky exhale, “it’s really- you’re- you look- this is— oh my God!”
Annnnd there’s really no doubting it now.
Clearly those vivid dreams of war, imprisonment and eleven years of growing up is not the dream Satoru had thought it to be since waking up in the infirmary as a seventeen-year-old student, way back before the source of all his problems defected from Jujutsu society.

“Fried egg,” Alhaitham’d said, succinct, “Otherwise, I’m afraid you’ll try to start eating the table. Don’t. It was expensive.”
Kaveh couldn’t reply. His tongue had been stuck in his mouth as he stared at Alhaitham’s back, because despite his words, Alhaitham was cooking for him.
And then—a pop.
Kaveh jumped so hard he almost fell out of his chair when a pink heart popped up right in front of his face, and it was only because of his panic that he’d managed to grab and shove the thing down under the table by the time Alhaitham had turned around to ask about the noise. It’s weirdly soft. Like holding a velvet plush toy.
(kaveh, quite literally, starts popping out hearts for alhaitham. it's all alhaitham's fault, obviously.)
