Summary
“I’m going to check your scent real quick, okay?” The man was already peeling back one of the patches.
Mathias scrunched his nose as his own sour scent leaked out. He wore scent blockers all the time per regulation, only taking them off to put on a fresh set. His own scent was foreign and revolting to him. He couldn't imagine how it smelled to complete strangers.
The man’s mouth flattened into a thin line, and he looked back up at the woman as he smoothed the blocker back into place. “Omega.”
“Jesus,” the woman breathed.
The man stroked Mathias’s neck a few more times. There was something sad in his expression.
“I’m not an omega,” Mathias said hoarsely, finally able to pull away. “They don’t exist. That’s just an excuse for you to oppress half your population.”

Summary
Will felt a fire rise from his stomach. It churned and boiled over into a thick, white-hot stream of rage. A good omega, after all, was unendingly kind and tolerant, and gracious and patient, especially in the face of such heinous remarks.
It was their job to rise above it. Redirect the conversation to suitable topics. His parents had drilled into him since he was a child that an omega should avoid discussions about money, politics, sex, or religion. They were the universal peacekeepers, meant to flutter their lashes and dispell any thought of an argument. Good omegas were an asset to their alpha.
Will, unfortunately, was not a good omega.
