"And a curse," added another.
"It is for both you and your King." Merlin struggled against their hold but it held him fast, and his vision began to fade in and out.
"Arthur has chosen to lift the ban to save your life, to bow to the old religion and become its follower."
Merlin felt his breath catch, it was too good to be true, everything he wanted, not to be trusted.
"So that perhaps one day you and all our people may forget what it is to hide in the shadows and fear death."
The eyes that met his were soft, even compassionate.
"It is our gift"

Summary
Jayce and Viktor find themselves remade, altered, and lost. They're intrinsically bound to each other as they navigate the battlefield of their trauma, which sometimes makes surviving in a jungle seem easy by comparison. Everything between them is moving so quickly but they can't find it in them to care, more intent on holding each other together without dropping too many pieces in the process.
This is a story about rebuilding and redemption, discovering family, and subverting military plots. All while trying to prevent a rift from tearing open and releasing darkness into the world.

Summary
Jayce was staring at the wall when Viktor found him, stubble already overgrown, hair shorn. He looked broken, fragile. A lost little boy thrown to wolves. Viktor had the ridiculous urge to pull him close, stroke his hair, and let him fall asleep in his lap, safe from harm. He didn’t know the man, only his journal.
“I hope I am not interrupting,” Viktor said, halfway between the dark humor of his home and Piltover politeness.
Jayce’s hazel eyes swung to him, bloodshot and puffy. He shook his head once, slowly, as if he were ashamed. The urge to cradle him grew stronger, a living thing in his chest.
Jayce is thrown into Stillwater after his experiment kills a teenage girl. Viktor finds his journal and becomes obsessed, retreating to Zaun to continue his work with the help of his old mentor. It only takes seven years of obsessive work and a jailbreak to reunite them.
