Summary
When the Centaurs' plane to Florida loses their engine everyone's fine, except for Ilya who'd been scratched by a broken bottle in all the jostling.
Shane hears the news, sees the report of "non-life-threatening injuries" and panics. Somehow, JJ manages to get them both to Florida before the Centaurs' game starts.

Summary
“Hi Irina.”
Ilya feels his blood still in his veins. His vision almost immediately blurs at the sound of his mother’s name falling so gently from Shane’s lips. Shane rambles something, almost to himself, before:
“I’m Shane. Shane Hollander. And I’m in love with your son, Ilya.”
Ilya’s breath catches, heart lurching in his chest, fluttering almost painfully as the realization hits him: He’s introducing himself to her.

Summary
"Chim told me to go home," Buck murmurs.
Eddie swallows, gaze dipping down over the sight of him — Buck knows he’s a mess. Knows his hair must be all over the place, and the bags under his eyes definitely haven’t disappeared in the last couple hours. His clothes are wrinkled and he’s wearing two different shoes. Eddie’s gaze comes back up, slow, exacting, and then he asks, "So you came here?"
And Buck hears the question behind the question clearer than the question itself.
This is home?
--
Or, Buck goes home.

Summary
He shouldn’t be thinking about this at all. He’s not — they’re not Buck’s keeper. He’s a grown man who can make his own choices and clearly, he did. He chose to not enter into a nontraditional relationship and that’s fine. It didn’t surprise Eddie at all. Eddie’s pretty sure Buck’s a one and done at heart, even if he hasn’t found his one yet.
And Eddie’s not…he doesn’t know what he is. He doesn’t think about what he is or is not, because if he starts walking down that switch-backing path he may never find his way home.
or: Eddie thinks about the whole...affair later.

Summary
Eddie can’t see their faces. He doesn’t care to see their faces, but he can see Buck’s. He’s laughing, open-mouthed, all teeth. Head thrown back and eyes crinkling shut with it as if something could ever be so funny. His neck is long, tendons stretching, throat bared and glistening with sweat under the pulsating lights. Eddie thinks if he were closer he’d be able to see Buck’s pulse thrumming away under his skin.
“—you know what I mean?”
“What?” He didn’t hear what Ravi was saying. He hasn’t been listening.
or: Buck and Ravi take Eddie out for drinks. It gets complicated.

Summary
Eddie has always been a light sleeper.
Between the Army, Chris, and his job as a firefighter, the smallest noise or creak of a floorboard has him shooting out of bed on high alert. Usually, it’s nothing; a branch falling outside his window, a bird flapping its wings, or the floorboards settling back into place. Once or twice, he caught Chris sneaking around long after Eddie had put him to bed.
It’s something he’s come to recognise as a face of life.
The sky is blue, the grass is green, and Eddie Diaz can get woken up by a falling leaf.
****
OR Chris is sick, Eddie watches over him, with a smidge of Buddie at the end.

Summary
Eddie barely lets Buck put his bags down in entryway before he’s on him, pulling Buck into his arms by his lapels and kissing him soundly.
“But the fireplace,” Buck tries to protest, because the fireplace was very important to picking the house, but Eddie swallows his words.
“Later.” Eddie bites at his lower lip and then surges inside, licking at Buck’s teeth, his tongue. He has a point; Eddie’s kisses are more important than the fireplace.
or: I mean, Eddie deserves a vacation

Summary
Buck claps his hands together and the sharp sound echoes down the quiet street. “Okay, I’m kicking the door in.”
“Buck!” Eddie exclaims, too loudly.
“What?” Buck doesn’t see the problem here. He’s broken in plenty of doors, although usually he has a halligan or a ram. Doors and door jams are replaceable – he even knows how to do it himself.
or: sometimes Buck and Eddie need adult-er supervision

“You waiting to get kissed?”
Oliver’s head snaps up. Ryan’s appeared at his side. He’s mostly in costume, wearing a black button-down and sharp black dress pants. Somewhere a crushed velvet maroon jacket is waiting for him. He looks, well, he looks good. And Oliver hates it, just a little bit.
or: now why would that mistletoe be there anyway?
-

Summary
Oliver’s wearing a white t-shirt that clings to the broad planes of his chest and the contours of his shoulders, which is normal, and no pants, which is less normal. Sometimes Ryan finds him in his gym shorts, five-inch inseams fighting the length of his thighs. Less often, Ryan catches him in his underwear, halfway between costume changes.
Today, Oliver’s in a tight pair of boxer briefs, the fabric of the thighs striped red and white, the crotch patterned as one big candy cane.
or: co-workers give gifts, right?

“Champurrado,” Eddie corrects softly, putting the tray down on the coffee table. “We used to drink this with Abuela when we helped decorate her tree.”
“Oh,” Buck breathes, blinking down at his mug. This - this is a deeply personal family tradition that Eddie has so casually included him in. Buck knows how much he’s missing Abuela, knows that this is probably helping him and Chris feel connected to her. And they’re including Buck.or
Five times Eddie included Buck in his and Christopher’s family Christmas traditions plus two new ones they make together. Bonus Eddie lightly torturing Buck through blatant flirting.

“Okay,” Buck says again, and differently this time. He wipes his hands dry on a dish towel and turns towards Eddie. “Do you want a hug?”
“What?” Eddie scoffs. “No.”
“Come on,” Buck holds his arms out, “I think you need a hug.”
or: everything happens in the kitchen

Summary
“You’ve got room for more tattoos,” he says, a thought that’s been with him for years, probably, but one he hasn’t voiced.
Oliver grunts again. “For now.”
Ryan lifts an eyebrow. “Got something planned?”
or: Ryan finds himself rightfully distracted by Oliver's thighs

Summary
“Tilt your head back,” Eddie says, his voice barely audible over the running water.
Buck does as he was told, tilting his head back and closing his eyes to the spray of water dripping onto his face. Eddie’s hands go to Buck’s hair, lightly scratching and massaging his scalp. The familiar smell of his shampoo fills the shower.
He relaxes into Eddie’s touch, a small hum escaping his lips as Eddie works the shampoo into his curls with slow, methodical movement. Given the chance, Buck would fall asleep in the shower just from the sensation of Eddie’s fingertips against his head. The touch is light, delicate, intimate in a way he hadn’t expected. The butterflies continue to flutter in his stomach.
“Enjoying yourself?”
“Uh-huh,” Buck says, all other words failing him.
“Good.” Eddie laughs, moving to wash the shampoo out of Buck’s curls. “You just relax, I’ve got you.”
