There’s someone on the other side of his door. He can hear them speaking, can hear Lyla reply, and can hear the keypad beeping. His room is soundproofed, but it’s not perfect and enhanced senses laugh in the face of human limits. The door slides open and closed as quickly as it can, but the outside sounds of electric lights and machinery and people it lets in still sends him reeling a moment.
“Sorry baby.” Peter whispers.
