Summary
The paper seemed to bore its face back into Mike’s. The word problems seemed to float off the paper, like someone had cast a vanishing spell on all the numbers and variables. The blank spaces in between the lines seemed to grow smaller and smaller, until Mike’s brain felt fuzzy and constrained, tugging at the recesses of the deepest parts of his mind.
“I don’t get this!” Mike groaned, throwing his head back dramatically. He heaved a sigh, rubbing his eyes with the balls of his palms. He could swear his brain would begin to start melting out of the holes in his head the longer he glared at the insulting, arrogant paper.
Honestly, what does this paper even think it is--? causing Mike to feel his brains turn to mush the longer he slouched over precalc homework.
Or, Mike and Will have a precalculus study date!
Written for my Math Final! Will probably go back in later and make it less math focused… -

“Will, you were beautiful.” Mike said, his gaze never wavering. He could feel the way heat creeped along the back of his neck and his cheeks, but he ignored it.
“Beautiful? Really.” Will rolled his eyes, looking away. He sounded skeptical-- uncertain. Like he didn’t know what to say now. Like he felt as if he were teetering along a straight line and was so, so close to falling off.
Mike looked at Will’s hands, they were still messing with the strand of thread. Now, it seemed they had picked up the pace, stressfully rolling the thread between his thumb and index finger.
Mike furrowed his brow, biting the inside of his cheek. He reached for Will’s hand, grasping it gently. Like he could ground Will. Will, who was so close, but always felt so far away. Will, who had been through so much, yet continued to be brave. Will, who deserved so much but received so little. Will, who had risked life and limb to save them all.
Or, it's after the battle in season 5 and Will and Mike have a post-battle talk.

Summary
“Will-- oh my god, Will.” Joyce’s words began to actually bleed through his eardrums, a comfort in an eerily uncertain situation. A situation he wouldn’t have been in had he not gotten lost while escaping the demobats with the others. A situation he could have avoided if everyone had stayed a team, if he had been able to keep everyone together.
But it happened, and now Will was bleeding out on the ground, the only warmth he felt being the soft grasp of Joyce's hands on his shoulders and the hot touch of his blood on his skin. There wasn’t anything Will felt like he could particularly do about this outcome.
It fits, after all. He started everything, so everything will end with him. Will just wanted to hope the day wouldn’t come so soon.
In which, the Lenora and Russia group stay in Hawkins, and Will gets mauled by a colony of demobats.

“Do you think we could learn to love each other?” Will asks, and that question feels like something intimate and afraid and vulnerable and hopeful all at once.
Neither one of them looks at each other. If they did, Mike thinks, then this question might become an answer neither one of them is ready to give. A confession that this – this might just be something real.
“Yeah,” Mike breathes, and his heart beats so loudly, so nervously, in time with Will’s own. “Yeah, I think so.”

Summary
In a future world, it is possible to create full-grown humans in test tubes, complete with pre-uploaded knowledge, skills, and memories. With this technology banned for use in warfare, society has found another use for these creations - but only the rich can afford to order a custom-made spouse (or "Match"), and the country is wrought with controversy over the ethics of the practice.
Mike, at 23 years old, is the son of a mildly powerful politician, and his father supports the Match-making industry wholeheartedly. Mike is solidly against it, but what can he do? His family has him in a choke hold. Uphold the family image, or else. Just as Mike is planning his escape, his parents tell him the great news: they signed him up to order a Match!
Mike doesn't want some poor person to be created according to his every desire. It's wrong. With the help of Nancy, he hatches a plan.
Will isn't sure why he seems so different from the other Matches around him. He's not supermodel gorgeous, or amazingly athletic, or sweet and easygoing like a Match should be. He's worried. Did something go wrong? Was he supposed to be better? But despite his worries, his curiosity wins out. He's anxious to meet his partner.

Summary
“No idea what you’re talking about,” Mike says, and his embarrassing insistence is worth it when Will lets out a light laugh, soft and summery. Mike readjusts himself, just to make sure his legs don’t go entirely numb when he’s crouched over Will like this, torsos pressed together and arms slotted together. “No idea.”
“Uh-huh.” A smile teases at Will’s lips, amusement in his voice. It’s all too attractive. “Alright, tough guy.”
“That’s me,” Mike beams, and Will’s smile tastes sweet when he comes in close for a kiss, catching him open-mouthed.
Will's powers seem to go haywire every time they kiss.
