Summary
The dreams begin the first night after he wakes up roaring under his mother’s hands. He’s just managed to relax enough to give in to exhaustion, when Theo appears in front of him, all snarling hatred. A memory dragged to the surface by trauma and betrayal.
Bile rises in Scott’s throat, and in front of him, Theo’s eyes widen slightly. Then his lip curls into a sneer. “You’re dead.”

The thing about hands was that the skin and tissue were connected to a lot of very intricate and delicate joints and tendons. If he forgot about the burns and failed to keep his hands as still as possible, the partially healed patches would reopen, leaving his hands cracked and bleeding, and the healing process would need to start all over again.

Hayden screamed. Somehow, she managed to get her arm around him before he fell.
“Go, I’m fine,” he said, teeth gritted.
He sounded like every muscle in his body had tensed at once, and she rolled her eyes. “Yeah, like hell.”
