Until now he’d never considered any alternatives. He’d worm his way into Shido’s operation, play along until he was trusted, and then when Shido was at the sum of his ambitions, Akechi would kill him. Simple, poetic, ironic - the great man brought down by the bastard son he’d abandoned in the gutter.
But now… honestly, the prospect of stealing Shido’s Treasure excites him. This ‘change of heart’ meant Shido would be a pathetic shadow of his former self for the rest of his miserable life, his ambition burned down around him and leaving nothing but a shell of the once-powerful politician. That was even better than death!

Instead of being lost in Mementos, Morgana quickly manages to find a Wild Card. It's just not the Wild Card he was *supposed* to guide. Not that he remembers.
This works out very well for Akechi... But the gods still demand their game.
