Alastor tilted his head until his mouth was next to the edge of the screen. He could almost feel the warmth of the circuits, the hum of static, the life pulsing beneath that casing of metal and light.
—Vincent, darling.
His voice was a whisper. No static. No theatrics. Just him, just Alastor, speaking to his Vincent as he used to seventy years ago, in the intimacy of his hideout, when the world didn't exist outside the two of them.
—Can you hear me?
A moment of silence.
