    Summary

Shouto doesn't know why he says what he says next. He's never been good at deception, and he matches Bakugou for impulsiveness—he's just less angry about it, usually. This is why they were given a cover story.

"Yes," Shouto says, nodding once, "we're on a date."

Everyone, including Bakugou, stares at him in shock. Belatedly, Shouto lifts a finger to his mouth.

"But it's a secret," he adds. "Shhh."

    --

After the two of them are spotted at a Valentine's Day hero convention while on a mission, Shouto gets the brilliant (and extremely bad) idea to pretend he and Bakugou are there on a date together. It's brilliant because it's the perfect cover story.

It's bad because he's desperately in love with Bakugou, and Bakugou has no idea.

    Summary

“This lunge,” Zhongli says calmly, tilting his head as he steps—gracefully, precisely—out of the way of Childe’s spear, “would benefit from a tighter core engagement. Your stance is two degrees off-center. I believe you’re compensating for your left ankle.”

Childe, panting, growling, actively bleeding from his lip and vibrating with chaotic desire, barely stops himself from screaming, “Are you SERIOUS right now?”

“Yes,” Zhongli replies, utterly serene, as if they aren't currently in the middle of what Childe has definitely dubbed a no-holds-barred, winner-gets-to-pin-the-other match, “I’m always serious when it comes to form. Would you like me to demonstrate?”

“No—what I’d like is to win!”

Zhongli sighs as if Childe has said something foolish, like “I love bureaucracy” or “tea is best served cold.”

In which Childe mistakes sparring for foreplay. Zhongli doesn't correct him.

    Summary

“A dragon’s treasure must be presented as an offering to proceed,” chimes the little Secret Source Servant hovering next to them.

Aether’s face twists into displeasure, glancing around the courtyard.

“Paimon still can’t see anything that looks like treasure,” she complains, flitting around the area.

It’s true, nothing stands out, even to Childe’s eyes. With a hum, he crosses his arms over his chest and thinks, considering the glimmering seal over the door looming before them. There are glowing lines of phlogiston running beneath the door and around its circumference. At the side of the door where the locking mechanism sits, there is what appears to be a small stone altar of sorts, raised up from the ground and surrounded in the same golden light as the door’s seal. Presumably, this is where the offering is supposed to be placed.

“What’s even in this Temple of the Coveted?” Childe inquires.

    ---

Childe attempts to help Aether with unsealing an ancient dragon temple in Natlan and gets more than he bargained for.

    Summary

Before his eyes, Zhongli shattered into a million pieces of light.

It was blinding, and Childe covered his eyes in reflex. The light peeled away in layers, solidifying into three distinct figures.

One emerged broad-shouldered and frowning, with two horns atop his head that curled with amber tips; his very presence rattled the air. Gold kissed hands that looked more like claws, his white robes marked with dirt and ash.

Morax. The brutish God of War. From the beginning of Zhongli’s long life.

Another stepped out, with the same pair of horns as the other, clothed in regal finery, dark brown robes embroidered with threads of gold, similar to Zhongli’s current attire but far more elegant. His posture sharp, eyes cutting through the space immediately to Childe, lingering with an unnerving amusement.

Rex Lapis. The God of Commerce and Trade, the establisher of Liyue. A man for a taste of all things fine.

And in the centre, left kneeling and breathless, Zhongli himself—the man Childe knew—steadying his own balance, calm but pale.

→ In which, Zhongli is split into 3 versions of himself, and Childe is left to deal with the mess.
