Peter feels his cheeks heat as he snaps his gaze up from her shoulder to her eyes. “No…sorry, I— The streaks of red in your hair, your…your daughter has the same ones. I just noticed, that’s all.”
“Oh.” She squints at him sceptically. “Are you about to tell me they’re against dress code policy?”
Peter thinks it’s bold of her to assume he’s read the dress code policy. “Um…I don’t think so.”
“Good. Because I wouldn’t really care anyway.”
“You know, I got that vibe from you.” Peter nods, smiling as she relaxes, breathing out a laugh. “Listen, I think we got off on the wrong foot.” He offers her his outstretched hand. “Peter Parker.”
Her fingers close around his. “Michelle Jones-Watson.”

He would never be able to tell Miles all the steps they’d taken to get here. He had barely scratched the surface of explaining to him how the world had forgotten Peter Parker to begin with (there were some things that he didn’t think Miles should believe were ‘just a part of being Spider-Man’). The work they’d done both as a couple and as individuals feeling like it could fill a book and still with so many chapters left to write as they worked through being parents together. They weren’t perfect by any means and he thinks Miles needs to figure out how he and Hailey will tackle the obstacles bound to come their way but… he and MJ had done a pretty good job.
His attention drifts down to May as she stirs in his arms, a few croaks escaping her, gentle warnings that she was about to wake. They’d definitely made something perfect.
