He fumbles around to sense how far his powers will be able to take him in his current state. It’s a miracle he hasn’t passed out yet, probably due to the adrenaline and his inner systems focusing all of his energy to stabilize his head, which would explain the rapid decline of the rest of his body. He manages to reach a lightbulb two floors below his room. Good enough. He zaps into his CPU and is quickly spat out into a poorly lit hallway in the hotel.

I’ve had a 15k words long outline for a longfic sitting around for a year and i’m not exactly sure if it will be written. So, here’s a scene i randomly wrote back around july-september 2024 for a part that takes place after someone tries to kill Vox in his office in the middle of the night.

Why had she agreed to hold these meetings again? With a heavy sigh, Carmilla looked up towards the woman next to the empty seats, since she was her best bet in getting any information about this.
“Rosie, do you have any readings on Alastor’s whereabouts? Or Vox’s?” The Cannibal Queen looked surprised by the question, but she quickly smoothed the expression over with a kind smile.
“Afraid not Carmilla, but it is unlike Alastor to be late without reason. I’m sure he will show up in a jiffy.” She sent Rosie a polite nod, before completely giving up on trying to fend off her headache. It better be one hell of a reason.
He did have a reason, namely being pressed into the mattress of his own bed. A very good reason, according to Vox, even if every single thought about the meeting had completely left his mind as soon as Alastor’s lips met his own. And his reason for being late was just as good, being the one to hold Alastor down and kiss him within an inch of his after-life.

Summary
Something goes wrong. The crown is split during Narinder's defeat, splitting the power between him and the Lamb.
Narinder keeps a portion of his godhood, and the Lamb finds that abilities they had access to before are no longer possible: Healing is cut short. Powers are halved. And there is a very real chance of perma-death, as the ability to resurrect is not possible without full power, and the God of Death is not cooperative.
Afterlife and Purgatory are not options either. Dying means erasure. Gone.Lambert knows Narinder grows stronger by the day, crown or not, and yet keeps him spared as they try to figure out how to complete their own goals. Narinder vows vengeance on the lamb for usurping him. After a few unsuccessful murder attempts, he's in for the long haul. It is only a matter of time before the Lamb's guard is down before he can strike, and The One Who Waits is very patient. When a mystic being demands they save the bishops from purgatory, an alliance is in order.
Except...the lamb's actions and their presence begin to unlock abilities within the God of Death he didn't know he had prior to his imprisonment, among other fickle things, like emotions. The prophecy didn't warn him of that part.

There was no longer a distant quality to the sound, it was in front of him, behind a door. Should he knock? Did he need to? Alastor was his husband—even if sometimes he acted like he wasn’t. He opted to simply push open the entryway, hoping Alastor would forgive his lapse in manners.
Alastor's back was turned. He was fiddling with his staff because of course he was. Of course instead of calling, or swinging by the tower Alastor holed himself up in a brothel and fucked around with his staff. No, it's fine. Vox is here now, he’ll bring Al home, he can spend the rest of the day with his husband. There’s no need to be upset, just cherish the moment.

Hypermobility/hEDS Vox, Alastor attempting to help. The plot was not fully thought out, it was more of an emotional outlet so don't be too harsh.
