Summary
When Hua Cheng drinks the True Shape Serum, it has an unintended effect. In a rare moment of bad luck, his spiritual power reacts to it strangely, causing him to revert into his earliest ghostly form and lose his memories.

By all rights, the True Shape Serum shouldn’t work on him. It's a paltry trick, no more than an annoyance considering the vastness of his spiritual power and the breadth of his experience with spellwork. So it's hard to say why Hua Cheng’s spiritual energy reacts to it the way it does.
Possibly, the enchantment recognizes that there's nothing he wants less in the world than to lie to His Highness now that he’s finally found him again, and seizes on this weakness.
