Caitlyn's not sure exactly what she was expecting when she first walked into that classroom, but what she had found had thrown her for such a loop it almost made her dizzy. It’s almost ridiculous how attractive Vi is. Simply, mathematically, it does not add up. There has to be a catch somewhere, Caitlyn reasons.
The catch, apparently, is that Vi is her coworker, teetering on the edge of being too old for her, and their families absolutely despise each other.
Or: Caitlyn and Vi were both injured in the same freak accident 13 years ago and are supposed to hate each other. Somehow they both end up teaching at the same university. Chaos ensues.

Vi smirks, her thick fingers tapping the wood of the bar. “Girl like you struggles to find a nice butch to take her home?”
“I can't say I've ever had the offer.” She says without thinking, immediately regretting it when Vi's smile widens.
“Well,” she says, picking up her beer and tapping the top of Caitlyn’s gin and tonic with it. “Consider this your first.”

What her gasp would sound like if Caitlyn whispered against her earlobe. How those rock hard shoulders would drop defenselessly –
“I can manage,” she says instead.
Vi is a solo music artist who is having a hard time getting traction. Caitlyn’s successful band is on the verge of breaking out of their local music scene. When Caitlyn’s band needs a new guitarist and Vi auditions, they both get more than they bargained for.

Summary
Caitlyn hated many things: the busy city, her ignorant parents, and complicated politics. Her love for art and nature guided her to the outskirts of urban life, where she painted and protected her peace.
Violet, on the other hand, was tied to the city through her dangerous work. Although Caitlyn desperately wanted to stay away and overlook the clues that revealed her dangerous lifestyle, giving in to Vi was inevitable.
On the night of the Supermoon, the last thing Caitlyn expected was for Vi to break into her home. And she definitely did not expect her self control to disappear (so quickly, at least).
