    She’d been letting the Hightowers choose their battlefields for years now, since she was naught but a heartbroken girl of eight who had lost her mother and brother in a single day. She had been letting them make their moves without challenge, but no longer.
    Alicent had worn a banner of War, and Criston had chosen his side.

    One should never poke a passive dragon, no matter how docile or pretty it appeared, lest they be faced with fire and blood.

    Eighteen years have passed since Katsuki returned from the worst overseas mission of his life. It also happened to be his first-ever solo mission in a different country, where he managed to make a lot of mistakes... Working hard on forgetting everything about it, two kids knocking on his door basically set his plans on fire. Because they came with birth certificates that had Katsuki's name on them, they are foreigners, and they just so happen to be old enough for the timeline to add. Now his husband is pissed (rightfully), and Katsuki has to figure out why those kids are saying that they are all in terrible danger because of him.
