Summary
He whistled and walked around, noticing that there was little dust. Some of the surfaces had a thin layering of the stuff, but... this place felt weirdly lived in. Dishes were in the sink, and one of the cushions on the couch was sunken in. The azure hoglet's ear twitched at a shuffling sound coming from down the hall.
He crept down the hallway, ears perked, and stopped at the far right door. He could hear more shuffling and someone talking. Suddenly, the door burst open and something collided with his stomach. Sonic yelped and dropped to the floor, landing hard on his back.
And hovering over him was a tiny, golden fox, wielding a screwdriver with his face set in an angry snarl.
Or: Sonic needs to find a place to sleep, so he goes to an abandoned cabin... or so he thinks.

Summary
Due to an experiment and mission from GUN, Shadow has the ability to read minds for about a week. Shadow hates the idea of hearing more than he has to from the people around him, but when he begins to learn some damning information about his rival, he realizes that maybe he should take advantage of this ability while he still can.
Or, a mind reading sonadow fic! I’m fairly new to the Sonic fandom, so please be gracious if I get any lore wrong. (If I do, though, don’t hesitate to let me know!)

Summary
Maybe, in hindsight, they were a bit too confident, not bothering to call in extra reinforcements, but in their defence, it was meant to be a simple battle; hell, the Doctor himself wasn't even present. He'd just sent his robotic goons to do his bidding.
Team Sonic got there in record time, but their speed proved useless, as half the town was already turned to rubble. The bots weren't even hard to beat; they were just so destructive. After the last of the badniks were flattened into piles of metal, they started to help the villagers. No one was badly injured, just some scrapes and bruises. All was well.
Until the second alert started frantically beeping on their communicators.

After a series of attacks by Dr Eggman, Sonic is exhausting himself trying to help as many villages as he can. He struggles to juggle his responsibility to the people with his responsibility to Tails.
As Shadow said, though, it takes a village to raise a child, and Sonic finally learns to lean on his village.Series

“Thanks for getting here so quick Shadow- To be honest, I wasn’t sure if you were going to come at all-"
“Rouge.”
“Right. Okay.” Rouge broke off for a moment, taking a breath before resuming. “So. The tapes we found are… not quite what we thought they were.”
"I thought we agreed to hand them over to GUN to take care of."
"I know, but... I got curious," Rouge admitted, and Shadow scoffed, unsurprised, though growing more tense when he noted the unease in his friend's expression, her posture.
He followed Rouge into their living room. Sat on top of their end table was the box Shadow recognised, spotting the tapes they had recovered in the Eggman base poking out through the opened slit.
“Okay.” Shadow said, voice his usual deadpan drawl as he returned his attention to the bat. “What was it that was so important you needed me here?”
“I’ll just show you.”Or
Shadow and Rouge find a box of tape recordings in an abandoned Eggman facility with one clue on it; a piece of tape labeled 'SONIC'. When they finally watch the tapes to figure out what's hiding on them, they realize Sonic has been hiding a lot from everyone, and they may have just signed up for more than they bargained for.
