Summary
“I found this at Kara’s apartment.” Alex’s voice is calm, but there’s something heavy underneath it. Something frayed, unraveling. “In the trash.”
Lena stares at the envelope, at the familiar handwriting on the front. Her name. Kara’s handwriting. Her lungs feel too tight.
Alex sets the envelope down on Lena’s desk. “There were… others,” she continues. “Unfinished versions. Some were torn up. Some were barely started. But this one—” She exhales. “This is the one she actually wrote.”
Lena doesn’t touch it. Doesn’t move.
Alex hesitates, then straightens. “I thought you should have it.”
Lena forces herself to meet her eyes. “Why?”
Alex’s throat works, like she’s choosing her words carefully. Like she already knows Lena is looking for a reason to shut this down. To refuse. To pretend none of this matters.
“Because I don’t know if she’ll ever get the chance to say what’s in there.”

“Superhuman?” Lena scathingly scoffed. “I’m human.”
“The superhuman intelligence of Miss Luthor, and, as such, convict her of her crimes in line with their punishment for all extranormal persons found guilty of possessing abilities deemed inhuman by the DEO. As such, a life sentence will be served at a secret DEO facility, at the discretion of Director Hank Henshaw. Dated this morning.”
The air was expelled from Lena’s lungs and she gripped the edge of the table, her eyes burning with the urge to cry as her heart hammered in her chest.
“Please. You can’t do this; I didn’t hurt anyone. I’m- I’m innocent. You haven’t even given me a- a trial. I mean-“

Lena gulps. For as long as they've known each other, Lena’s never thought to be scared of Supergirl. She's saved her. Believed in her. A Super and a Luthor—it seems that their legacies have caught up to them. Lena keeps her voice steady. “How worried should I be?”
Alex is silent for longer than Lena is comfortable with. “Just… call me if you see her. Please. She… I want to believe she wouldn't hurt you, but—”
Lena’s blood runs cold at this.

“Right,” Lena says. “Well I suppose I should thank you for being honest.”
