Aegon had triumphed, but it was an empty victory. He had lost his entire family; all he had left was Aemond, who despised him and wasn’t much help, his mother, who was as disturbed as ever—perhaps even more so—and his little daughter, who feared him. Upon seeing Jacaerys’s body, he realized what he had done; he had destroyed everything. A mysterious woman offered him the hope of at least recovering something.
Aemond Targaryen was a heartless bastard. When he finished off Lucerys Velaryon, he somehow hoped that it would fill the void, but it only deepened the enormous hole in his heart. His heart raced at the thought that a certain person was alive; he didn’t care if the call wasn’t meant for him; he would find that person.

Summary
Placed between his wife and his daughter, King Viserys I Targaryen made a decision he thought would appease everyone the night his granddaughter, Lucerys Velaryon, took the eye of his son, Aemond Targaryen. Lucerys would be punished but her eye would not be taken in return. Desiring to be seen as just as his grandfather was, Viserys would not beget violence with violence nor would he brush such actions to the side. The cracks in the family splintered further because of this-not only between the two factions but within the Blacks as well. Lucerys was forever changed because of this and it became everyone's problem.
