Summary
Things had been off since his party the night that Lorenzo sleazed his way back into the city. Magnus had sent a handful of texts, to which Alec had replied slowly and without much fanfare. It was his usual style, but something felt different. Distant, maybe, in a way that it hadn’t been before, even when the Institute was in crisis and Alec had few moments to spare.
Something had changed. Perhaps he was overthinking it, that dangerous spell in the air the night of his party, but he couldn’t help but wonder if that had been the cause of this shift.

Anything that could have been unsaid in that moment is forgotten as Alec’s face clouds over, all the painful memories of that night come flooded back and any feeling he may have shown towards Magnus is replaced with a cold stoic stare.
And the shift in Alec is obvious by the pained look now in Magnus’ eyes, as he looks back at him.

Cornered by an unidentified demon species, disadvantage leads them to chaos, especially when the demon manages to bring down an entire church roof... on everyone.
Upon return to the Institute, Dr Alaric, the resident doctor, quickly realises that when Alec was struck with debris, his retina was dislodged. Because of the severe damage, the doctor would have to perform an enucleation to remove his eye.
Terribly insecure about his eye and chronic migraines, Alec grows increasingly tired and frustrated with training, his children and Magnus.

Ragnor likes to travel with his boyfriend, whereas Magnus is content where he is. The advice he receives is to get over himself and call Alec, which is preposterous.
