All she remembers is something... pink. Or, was it magenta? Her vision was bathed in flashy saturated colors. It hurt her head trying to comprehend it. She most of all remembers the noise. Noise so oppressive she could see it. Static filling her eardrums and wavelengths so overbearing it wrapped around her head. Eventually finding herself in a winding, grimy hallway that led to... wherever these woods were. This wasn't like the flora in the outposts, nor the typical Xen plants that grew along the city, no this place was.. something else entirely.
Post Gnome Run, Alyx Vance finds herself outside reality altogether. Attempts to escape the desolate, empty nothingness prove futile. Trapped in the pale void, Alyx learns the truth about her situation from an apathetic Security Guard, and an eccentric Garden Gnome.

Peng isn't content with settling for less. While others gorged their feelings away with wine and fruit, the eagle prided themself on battle. When training with Macaque gets under their skin, they're forced to talk with a friend they might have too much loyalty for.

Now, regarding the Imperial Court, there were only three noteworthy things they would tell you if you asked them for such information:
As the Chief of War, they spend more time trying to convince the Emperor not to go to war than to, well, go to war (a work in progress. They have yet to succeed in the art of persuasion).
One of the Emperor's advisors has, allegedly, done a 180 in personality. Everyone is (rightfully) afraid of her. Unfortunately for them, she seems quite hellbent on getting them to start a revolution, and somehow they are more afraid of saying no than the idea of being executed for being compliant to her ideas.
There is a new servant. Not only does he keep climbing on the horse stables instead of cleaning them, he has got quite the knack for distracting them from their duties. Unfortunately for them, he's quite charming, ergo, forgivable.
In other words, this is a soap opera about the Emperor’s Palace in the Sui Dynasty. Featuring yours truly, a perplexed Chief of War, the omitted advisor Ivory Lady, and the Six Eared Macaque who is only there for a jolly good time.

Summary

The moon shone between them, lush and full, the final chords of Marina's song still echoing across the cliffside, bouncing off jagged rocks and dancing across ripples of clear water. The girl's eyes were starry, filled with hope.
“Huh?” Pearl asked, incredulous. That had come outta nowhere!
Coddamn. Was this girl for real?
A song and a mission brings unlikely companions Marina, certified genius and recently-defected Octoling combat engineer, and Pearl, Inkling streetwear heiress and (former) death metal screamer together. But as they navigate language barriers, parents, and the music industry, their friendship begins to blur into something more. With each new song, their connection deepens, and they realize that they may be playing for more than just Off the Hook.

Summary
Being dead was horrible. Being revived and in debt was not worse but it was still terrible. However when he was offered a deal of a lifetime (pun intended) by the Lady Bone Demon and her thrall, he couldn’t afford not to take it. What did he even have left to lose? So he accepted the deal, but there was no time for rest as he was immediately tasked to join the thrall on a quest to retrieve a key. A key which would free the imprisoned Bone Demon.
They were not exactly keen on having to work with the shadow demon. Yet they had direct orders from their lady to take the simian with them. Sometimes her choices were not for them to understand, but they all had a purpose they trusted in. Though, their ‘friendly socialising’ skills were not as good as they thought they were, as it was proving to be very difficult to get along with Macaque. Perhaps if they tried hard enough, they could make this work.
In other words, Macaque and the Chief are tasked to work together to find the skeleton key to free LBD. This is a selection of their silly misadventures in the form of many events formulated into a 5 chapter timeline.

In his opinion, the whole thing was one massive accident.
He’d never actually killed someone before, corny video games aside. But the Monkey King had always said that the first one was always the hardest, and that the Lady Bone Demon was basically a walking skeleton anyway, bud! It’s in the name! So it was a perfectly normal escalation to do anything to win, no matter how dire the consequences were.
Or not dire. Sun Wukong thought the battle was a job well done. Perfect execution and all! Pardon the pun.

After the battle with LBD, MK struggles with the morality of being on the ‘winning’ side. Family is what you make it, he just needs to actually let them in first.
