Summary
The Clone Wars have just begun. With the Jedi spread thin, 9 year old Cal Kestis doesn't have anyone to help him control his psychometry. With Jaro Tapal in too dangerous a situation to take on a padawan, he's sent to Obi-Wan Kenobi instead, much to the dismay of Anakin. However he and Cal will have to put aside their differences and work together in order to stay alive for the next battle of the Clone Wars.

It wasn’t healthy, he knew that, but he also was aware that he had an obsessive personality, and looking too deeply into this would just drive him more insane then he already felt. It got… not exactly easier, as time went by, but more bearable. There was never a time he could forget about it, but he had gotten so used to it that by now that it was normal to him. He wasn’t happy, and sometimes he wished that he’d just died that day ten years ago, but the thought of leaving his brother behind usually put an end to that train of thought."

Summary
Vecna waved his hand, and Will dropped to the ground. Relief washed over Mike, which soon reverted to panic. What was Vecna going to do now? Was he going to hurt Will? Mike, still immobilised, watched Will panting on all fours. He desperately wanted to get up, run over to him, figure out what the hell Vecna had done to him, but his body remained traitorous.
He tried to call out, to get Will’s attention, but the sound seemed to catch in his chest and suffocate. He cleared his throat and tried again. Nothing. Discomfort sank in as he tried to regain his voice to no avail, mouth opening and closing soundlessly, like a goldfish.
An eerie, rhythmic ticking had crept into Mike’s periphery, raising goosebumps on his skin and setting him on edge.
A grandfather clock chimed nearby. A death sentence.
Or, Mike Wheeler gets Vecna'd!

Nancy lowered her body, sizing up the space ahead of them. She lowered her arm and reached for her gun. Lucas gripped his crowbar, wringing it over with his hands. Mike just stared, knife forgotten, shoved into the side of his belt.
The shadow moved slowly and hunched slightly forward.
That’s a fucking person.
“Will?” It was a quiet question, private almost, let out with an unsound breath. Mike tasted it like copper in his mouth as each letter sounded out past his gently parted lips.
That’s when Nancy shot. Heat and gunpowder soaked the air, followed by a shrill ringing sound that accompanied the loud bang.
