“What’s its name?” Luffy asks, poking at the bird. In retaliation, its heavy wings blow a thunderous gust of air at him with thick, whip-wicked flaps. Robin soothes it with two fingers running down its neck.
“His name is Orion,” she introduces. “I do hope you don’t mind. The two of us are a package deal.”
On the contrary, Luffy’s eyes sparkle, huge and excited, smile stretched wide. “Cool, another crewmate! A bird crewmate. I’ve never had that before!”
The one where the great scholars of Ohara were also falconers, and Robin finds pieces of home wherever she goes.

“Why are you using kitchen sheers at two in the morning? Answer me first,” Rosinante says, using his best I’m the adult, do what I say voice. It works roughly fifty-percent of the time with most of the kids (and only about twelve-percent with Law).
“They need to be sharp. It’ll be a cleaner cut.”
Rosinante takes it all back. There's no way he’s adult enough for this conversation. “O-oh. Um. Law, you’re loved very much—”
“I’m not suicidal, you moron! I’m cutting my hair!”
Or: how Donquixote Rosinante cracks Law's egg, cuts his hair, and catches his frog — not necessarily in that order.

Zoro sends a flying slash that cuts off the heads of three sea kings in one shot. Luffy cheers because his swordsman is so cool and before he knows it, he's making heart eyes at him. He quickly slaps his hands over his cheeks and shakes his head roughly, making the hearts disappear.
(Luffy was never good at lying or keeping a secret and his new powers certainly aren't helping.)

Sometimes, Law reminds him of Robin. The way she had, at the start, picked up on so many details about the crew, trying to grasp who they were.
But then again, Zoro thinks as Law opens his mouth to speak, Robin knows when to mind her own business.
"You know, you look like you're in pain sometimes."

There’s a feather resting on the floor, soft white against the dark shag carpet. Her first instinct is to roll her eyes and scold her son, saying something like, You know better than to leave your feathers around the house during molting season. It’s unhygienic.
Except that it isn’t molting season. Not even close.
There’s a speckle of red on the feather, stark against the white plume like the stain on his uniform.
“Dragon.” She can’t keep a slight tremor out of her voice. “Please look at me.”

Summary
Rosinante just barely escapes the clutches of his brother with a beat-up 1985 Chevy S10 and a dying kid in the passenger seat. On the run from Doflamingo and the Family, he hides away in a sleepy mountainside town and starts trying to build a stable life for Law - the kid is deteriorating faster than he should from Amber Lead, and all Rosinante really knows to do is keep him fed, clothed, and warm.
He never anticipated having a kid, but he'd do damn near anything for Law.

When they’re on the forecastle, with the helm just behind them and the figurehead casting them further in shadow, Usopp calls, “Raise the sails!”
Luffy’s gasp next to his ear is the best part of his entire day.
The sails unfold in a great rolling crash of canvas. Even the striped gaff swings out, catching the wind. The whole sloop gives a powerful lurch as if she’s eager to sprint out of port on the back of whatever gale blows along next.
And painted on the foresail, bold and bright and proud, is a grinning Jolly Roger in a yellow straw hat.
“That’s mine,” Luffy whispers, hushed and awed.
“Told you so,” Usopp says smugly.
