Summary
Icy blue eyes peered out from behind a dirt-stained hand, reminding Dick of a different time, a different alley-found kid who was taken too soon. He's met children like this before, wary of adults or the world around them in general, only relying on themselves at an age where they can't do enough to keep their heads above water. Blinking rapidly at the thought to hold back his tears, Dick remembered when Jason first came to the manor. Even as distant as he was with his brother at the time, he saw how the pre-teen acted out of self preservation even months into Alfred's mother-henning.
The small child in front of Dick startled when the vigilante spoke, kneeling on the sludge-covered alleyway. "Hi, my name's Nightwing. Are you okay, kiddo?"
A weary snarl distorted the youthful face, dirty black bangs hanging limply, obscuring the icy glare pointed Dick's way. "What's it to you, weirdo?"

Yeah, that's it. Dick's officially got Bruce's adoption genes. This sassy kid's coming home with him, no matter what.

"What do you mean, Clockwork?" Danny asked, abruptly standing from his throne. "I was literally crowned like all of five minutes ago and you're already trying to get rid of me?"
"Nonsense, my King," the older ghost soothed. Clockwork was still serenely floating in front of the young half-ghost, a small smile gracing his blue face. "I am merely giving you two options - you can either go back into the realm you come from and inform your family and friends of your newly-gained influence, or you can take a... sabbatical, of sorts, and collect some artifacts from a different dimension. It would certainly give you some extra time to grow into your new role."
Danny rolled his eyes, gesturing largely with his upper body. "Well, gee, Clocky. I just don't know how to say no to that."

Billy flicks a disgusted look at the table in the far corner where Jonathan and Nancy are eating together. “Seriously? That’s better than having people know I whooped your ass?”
"I've faced down actual interdimensional monsters. After that, small town gossip really loses its threat."
"Sure, because it's better to be known as the loser that Byers tried to kill twice." Billy stares at Steve who has clearly lost his mind.
“Weirdly, I don’t hear you apologizing for nearly killing me,” Steve says pointedly.

Summary
“Anyone there?” Steve tries again. He’s hoping it’s a person and not– well, something out of his nightmares. This could still all be a concussion induced dream, he supposes. Steve hasn’t been hit this hard since Jonathan laid him out on the street. And even then, he was able to walk away with his wits, but not his pride.
“Harrington?” A voice, one that also sounds strained, speaks out. Steve knows that voice too, gets taunted by it every basketball practice since it waltzed into his life and shoved him to the ground, figuratively and literally.
“Hargrove?” He’s asks, still incredulous that they’d be put in the same room. Then again, this isn’t a hospital. It’s rather shaping up to be a nightmare.

Steve is left behind after he's knocked out while the kids go and burn the tunnels. When he wakes up, he's strapped to a bed with Billy Hargorve as his roommate, at the mercy of a Russian doctor with "great" plans for the both of them.

Steve takes a deep breath and picks up the receiver, “Hello?”
The kitchen lights flicker once, so quickly that he convinces himself that he imagined it, and then there’s a crackling, a kind of static-y hiss against his ear, and the rasp of a voice, “Hey, I need, uh, police?”
There’s something familiar about the voice, something twitching at the back of his mind, the tip of his tongue, but Steve can’t quite place it.
“Hello? Anyone there? Please?” it comes again, laced with so much desperation that it has the back of Steve’s neck prickling uncomfortably, “I need- shit, I need help.”
AKA Billy is trapped in the Upside Down and somehow manages to call Steve's house.
