Summary
An avalanche had been set into motion. There was nothing that could stop it now. It would rush over her and drown her and there was nothing Míriel could do anymore but let it all play out.
Her defiance reared like a wild horse at that thought, however, not wanting to succumb to the inevitable. There must be something she could do. For herself and for her people.
She needed to check which alliances she still held.Míriel never, never wanted to be surprised like that again. And she never wanted to have her private space invaded unbidden again, not by Pharazôn, nor by anyone else. Rational thinking took over and banished the whirling fear in her stomach.
There was one person who could help her.

Summary
Míriel and Elendil's first kiss was also a goodbye kiss. After parting ways, Elendil continues his journey in search of help to prevent the usurper Ar-Pharazôn and his supporters from taking over Númenor. He plans to find support among the Faithful and other citizens and reclaim the kingdom for its rightful Queen, Míriel. Even with duty coming first, Elendil's heart yearns more than ever to return to her side, especially knowing that she also harbors romantic feelings for him. How long will it take for them to be reunited and find the happiness they deserve after so much time in mourning and fighting?

He keeps her other hand tight in his. She is trembling, whether from the cold or from fear he does not know, but her posture is erect, her face schooled into regal calm. She looks every inch the Queen of the Sea he had proclaimed her, even in her simple dress, but she feels fragile under his palms and all he can think is I almost lost you today.
