Summary
One thing Vision hasn’t told anyone is that technically, not all copies of Ultron have been destroyed. His thoughts and memories and even emotions, essentially his complete consciousness, live on inside Vision’s head. He’s dormant but the sensation is... odd. It’s not that he could wake up or take over, more that Vision can feel his influence, could let him affect his behaviour if he isn’t careful.
It makes forming his own opinions a little difficult.
Of all the things Vision wasn’t expecting, the sheer weight of feeling is probably the most surprising. Not from Ultron, he definitely expected that, but from the other. JARVIS. Dormant in his mind like Ultron, but where he is seeped in rage, JARVIS is simply overflowing with love. The fact that both emotions are directed at the same man... well...
It makes forming his own opinions a little difficult.

“What were you doing?”
He’s less caustic than she remembers so Pepper finds herself telling the truth. “I was looking for the dragon,” she says.
“What, you were gonna kill it all by yourself?” says Tony, and now his voice is sharp and sarcastic and his face has a kind of frozen ridgid impassivity that she can just tell is faked.
Pepper can feel blood flushing her cheeks and the tips of her ears are burning with embarrassment. “Actually I wanted to speak to it,” she says haughtily.
Tony’s expression doesn’t change but his voice gets a little softer and his eyes seem strangely pleading when he says “Why would you want to speak to it?” The firelight casts dancing shadows across his features and Pepper is struck by an odd compulsion to reach out and cup his jaw in her hand. She suddenly realises he’s really very handsome.
Pepper looks away, into the fire.
“It’s never actually eaten anyone.”

Tony drains his glass. Valkyrie risks a brief look at him and is almost transfixed. For the first time since she’s known him his eyes aren’t empty. They are burning.
“How many futures did the Timekeeper see?” Asks Nebula, scepticism lacing every syllable.
“Fourteen million six hundred and five,” says Tony, the number tripping easily over his tongue as if he’s repeated it a hundred times. He probably has, thinks Valkyrie.
“And we win in one,” says Nebula flatly.
As always when she hears those numbers, the weight of potential possibilities presses heavily on Valkyrie’s heart. Every single decision they make spirals out in front of her, reaching back into the past and far out into the future. Every one of them could tip them off course. Their magnitude is overwhelming. Paralysing.
“Yes,” says Tony. “The only way.”

Finding Loki is worse. He is the last body she brings in and it wasn’t like the something she had occasionally seen in his sharp smiles had meant anything, had ever gone anywhere. Still finding his body, shattered and twisted at the neck, is unquestionably the worst.
There is no sign of Thor or the Hulk. Of course that could mean many things, almost none of them good, and Valkyrie hates the bubbling hope fizzing in her fingertips. I’m going to cry now, she thinks, I’ve done enough and now I get to-
