Theo’s relationship with the older pack members was tentative at best, riddled with snide comments and wary looks, but he had to be grateful for his genetically-manufactured, chimeral nature, because a stab wound to the liver would have killed Stiles within minutes, whether the human hated him or not.
He had seen, in brief flashes, Stiles’s hand rubbing over the very place the knife would have entered his gut.

Summary
Through the smoke, and the noise, and the grief, there’s Bucky.
There’s blood all down the right side of his face, but his eyes are bright, and when he sees Gale his smile is even brighter.
There are so many things he wants to say, so many things he wants to do, but there’s a crowd, and Gale doesn’t think he can find the right words anyway. Not here, not now. What he settles on is eloquent, and he hopes it portrays all of the feeling he puts behind it:
“What took you so long?”
Bucky’s grin widens. He shrugs his shoulders up to his ears and gestures back towards the poor excuse of a plane.
“We took a detour,” he says simply.

Summary
Eugene doesn’t like the cough. Sure, he doesn’t like much about the current situation- not the gaunt look Winters wears clear as ever, the stumble Captain Nixon takes up in the morning, the way Toye limps from his foxhole with teeth gritted hoping no one will notice- but the cough. He doesn’t like the cough Babe has taken to, a cough that rattles his ribs and makes him wheeze.

Summary
They’re in a dark basement when Babe realizes he's the one taking care of Gene, who’s shaking so hard he can’t even hold a cigarette. Babe realizes that somehow he’s become Babe (sometimes) and Doc has become Gene, and it's so dark that you can't even see where Babe ends and Gene begins. It becomes a lot more difficult when Babe is kissing chapped lips for the first time. He soars.
