Summary
Stanley said nothing, thumbs rubbing at the fabric. The curtains were drawn in Xeno’s room, the only light bleeding in from the bathroom, the vent whirring. Xeno felt dizzy as he clumsily cupped Stanley’s face, shadowed. He tilted the man’s face up, the weak light from the bathroom highlighting his straight nose and glossy purple lips. In Xeno’s drunken mind, he didn’t notice Stanley’s breath catching in his chest, the way his amber gaze poured over his flushed face, anticipatory.

"Senku," Gen said weakly. "Please don't tell me we're-"
"That's right," Senku cackled. "He's coming with us to South America!"
Gen hung his head and wept. "I knew you'd say that."
"His injuries mean he'll be easier to control," said Tsukasa. "An ideal hostage for such a long and isolated journey."
Not as ideal as Dr. Xeno himself, Ryuusui thought, since scientist types tended to be slender and poor combatants. Too much time spent hunched over a desk. But compared to the other American soldiers, this was the best outcome they could've hoped for. Someone valuable enough that Xeno wouldn't sacrifice them, but also weak enough that they could keep under their control.
