It hangs over his head, taunts him. At the end of the day, Shane could shower in scented oils, devote himself to being prepped and ready for any given moment, but it just is not the same. His body is his body, and Ilya’s desire for him hinges on if he likes Shane enough to go through all of the extra trouble.
Also i love how Ilya is still keeping up the best hocky player bit while comforting shane, its cute and a nice touch.

Im not very far into this so im not sure how this will change as the story develops but this is honwstly so sad which is kinda impressive since im at like chp4 and nothing techincally really bad happend yet. I think that fact is actually pretty cool it gives the story this really somber mood without being overly melancholic which a lot of hurt fics run into.
It does make me want to despreately see a au of this world where alex didnt merge into 'the pack' and stayed with the betas. It would be cool to see the bennifts and challenges that could come because of that.Chp 2 dubious consent due to rut/ineberated.

Summary
So finally, here they were; Namjoon and Hoseok awkwardly kneeling on the floor facing each other, while Jimin and Jin took their position on the couch along the wall. One of them had made a bowl of popcorn and they were both munching on it, watching the two betas intently, waiting for one of them to make a move.
Hoseok didn't really know what to do. Should he make the first move? What was The First Move? Should he try to push Namjoon over? How did fights like these actually work?

The company never even considered Hoseok as an option to be the pack leader of the group, even though he was a beta just like Namjoon. But that's fine. He'll probably just bottle it up for years until it becomes an unavoidable issue that he and Namjoon need to work through together. No big deal.
