“Steve, you’re stereotyping.” She gives Steve a stern look. “You know, I think he might’ve danced with you if you weren’t such a nervous wreck.”
“Doubtful.”
“Don’t be so quick to judge. You never know what could happen.”
If he can’t get rid of this crush, Steve knows exactly what will happen.

“I’m tired,” Bucky confesses. The word tired can’t nearly encompass the physical, mental, and spiritual exhaustion that he feels. How does he explain the weariness in his bones? “I shouldn’t be here.”
“The pain you feel is inescapable,” T’Challa tells him. Yes, Bucky knows this—he doesn’t need a scientist to prove this. “It will always, always be there, no matter how long you sleep. Sergeant Barnes, there are only two cures for the kind of pain that you feel—healing, or death.”

Bucky doesn’t want to hear his next words. “I just want you to try. To give it a chance before you decide that going under is the right thing."

“I can’t trust my own mind.” He says. When he looks up at Steve, Bucky smiles, bittersweet and melancholy. “So until they figure out how to get this stuff out of my head, I think going back under is the best thing.” He pauses, sighing. “For everybody.”
Steve doesn’t fight. He doesn’t protest or argue, or try to change Bucky’s mind. He just nods slowly and chooses careful words.
“If this is what you want, then it’s the best choice.” Steve tells him. “Because it’s your choice.”

Bucky Barnes is a recently discharged insomniac who's camping out at Natasha's house until he can get his life together again.
Steve Rogers works the night shift at a convenience store to help put himself through college.
Somehow their lives become intertwined, and even though Bucky barely feels like a person some days and Steve can hardly afford rent with all his medical bills, let alone tuition, once they're together it's hard to break apart.
