He felt his body jolt upwards when his partner snatched the pen away from his hands. So much for keeping his hands busy.
Partner, he thought again. Just remembering the word was enough to drive him crazy. Why did it have to have so many meanings? Jayce was a scientist, for Gods’ sake. It shouldn’t have been so hard to figure out why using a completely normal word was bugging him so much.
“Yes, we do,” The other responded firmly, putting the pen on the other edge of the cluttered desk and sitting back down on a chair that was facing Jayce no more than an arm’s length away. After adjusting his cane, he took a breath.
