Summary
Caleb and Darem gave graduated from the academy and are stationed on separate ships. The distance is killing them, and after they finally agree to spend the rest of their lives together to not have to be separated again. Caleb's last 6 weeks aboard the starship Polaris may serve to separate them forever after it is attacked and Caleb and its crew are taken captive on an alien planet.
(Spoiler, they do get back together and there is a happy ending, there's just a lot of whump, hurt, angst, and recovery that happens in the middle)

Summary
Each chapter will be it's own one-shot story of Caleb getting hurt in some way, and someone from the show (Darem, Genesis, Ake, etc.) in the caretaker role. All of these stories will be whump heavy, and hurt/comfort centric. Pairings (platonic or romantic will vary from chapter to chapter and will be labeled at the start of each chapter).

He grit his teeth, feeling the reverberations of them grinding against each other as a burst of colour and sound. His vision was definitely going blurry now, there was no question. “Not enough.
