Leaving a town to escape the memories of fighting a bloodlusting monster only to get dragged into another supernatural fiasco seemed like something more unlikely than pigs sprouting wings and flying away, but Mike Wheeler, or Richie Tozier as known by others, never seemed to be able to catch a break.

Things don't go as hoped, Will being tired of being pushed to the side, and Mike not pleased with how Will’s been acting. They violently clash at Rink-O-Mania and the both of them think they’re done talking to the other for the day, until they aren't.

It was hard to picture himself living that life, but it was better than where he currently was.

Jonathan was not sure why he was even bothering to debate going to what Nancy had invited him to; this year’s Halloween party. He had no costume to wear, and even without his desire to put one together, it was much too late—it was already Halloween, and he was sitting in his car parked right outside the house while the party raged on. His outfit was just something he would wear at school; currently wearing a black jacket, with a brown sweater underneath, and snug jeans on his legs.

Will is tired of his parents arguing all morning, so when he is given an opportunity to split it up, he accepts (even though it's with his father). Jonathan also agrees to go despite not seeming thrilled.
This place his dad seems to say was so necessary for them to go to was their local church. Will hopes he can use this moment as a learning opportunity. Unfortunately for him, he can never seem to have a good day, the rest of it soured by his father. At least, Jonathan and his mother are around.
