Summary
From a series of satirical parables I painted using negation from a ground of Indian Red and Prussian Blue to depict "divine" experiences of male characters who suffered neglect or abuse in childhood and whose isolation and psychological vulnerability manifests/is preyed upon by metaphysical figures offering the love of a family which never existed.

Daemon wipes the sleep from his eyes and squints at the clock on his nightstand. It is an embarrassingly late hour to just be waking up, and if he knows that if he says anything with more syllables than the hello? he mumbled when he first answered the phone, his voice will crack and give him away. Normally, he wouldn’t care—he’s a grown man and can sleep or not sleep whenever he wants—but all of the ways that he normally feels about things go flying straight out the window whenever his niece is involved. He sits up in bed and clears his throat. “I answered your call,” he says. “That’s communicating."

She stumbled backwards, knowing with horror that she was about to trip and fall and hit the ground in utter humiliation - when a hand shot out and grabbed her by the wrist. She was yanked back to her feet.

Summary
