Harry Potter sat in his cupboard, hugging his knees to his chest, his chin resting on top. It was really, really dark, and it felt like it had been at least two days since he had eaten and one day since he had even been out—it was his longest punishment to date. He wasn’t sure why or how, but he had done something really Freakish by accident. He was sure he hadn’t done it, but the small amount of satisfaction at seeing Ms. Martin’s wig turn teal blue confirmed his budding suspicion.

His instinct tells him this has to be a trick of some sort. The same kind of thing that came with closing your eyes by request and getting gravel dumped down your shirt, or someone tipping your water bottle too fast for you to catch up.
Jonathan isn't stupid. He stops and turns around to face the stranger anyway.
Even if the sun was out—it wasn't, it was still raining—the light would not have hit the stranger's face, even if it looked like it was meant to. As if this boy was made to attract light and shoo away darkness. Jonathan stuffs that idea down and instead nods at the boy."
